Hafez is renowned for being one of the greatest musicians in Arabic music history. Not only did he sing, but he was also a conductor, a music teacher and a producer. His life had always wavered between periods of happiness and sadness, beginning with a difficult childhood. Abdel Haleem was a poor and struggling orphan and was labelled as a bad omen by his community after his mother died giving birth to him. This dark and painful history was always present in the melancholic tone of his voice.
